Call Against The Will book What does God want me to do if I grow up? Now that I'm "all grown up", am I doing what God wants me to do? Is God pleased with my labor? The quest to answer such questions is one of life's greatest challenges for followers of Jesus. Many people are dissatisfied, even disenchanted, on their vocational journeys. They view employment as a necessrey evil and wonder if God has a Plan Divine as they are stuck doing Plan Self. Plan Self means doing what brings the most money and ease of life without consulting God to see if He has something else in mind. Plan Divine means regularly pursuing God's interests and not resting contentedly until you are absolutely sure you are firmly entrenched doing what He wants you to do. Plan Self often yields discontentment along with restlessnes or even dispair. Plan Divine always delivers peace that passes human comprehension.

I settled for Plan Self living during my first 15 years of post-college work. After the initial thrill of employment faded, the a.m. alarm clock was no longer welcomed enthusiastically, and I often wondered about my purpose in life. The 30-year retirement package, great wages, outstanding benefits and stocking up a 401K seemed alluring but were never satisfying.

As He sometimie does, God used a friend to ignite a spark in April 1994. That friend, Joseph Parker of Harrison County, Kentucky, challenged me to sart a ministry that would take clothing jobs and evangelism to the former Soviet Union. After an initial "NO-GO-BUT-THANK-YOU-JOE" reaction, the Lord sowed me through friends and circumstances that He had chosen me. I could stall and make excuses, but I could not hide. Life became a whirlwind from the time of that challenge forward, but initial uncertanties turned into a mission ministry knowm as MASTER Provisions. A call against my will had begun!
