WOW! It’s really looking like a Service and Volunteer Education Center now (whatever that’s supposed to look like!).  Katie and Cindy Nelson stopped by last week to pick out carpet and flooring colors and decide on placement of the tribute area to permanently honor Larry’s well-lived life.  The two-story center will indeed be a fantastic addition to MP’s Borland Family Distribution Center.

The lower level will house a large multi-purpose service and learning room with wireless audio/video capabilities, kitchenette, maintenance/laundry room, two restrooms and two other storage areas.  The mezzanine level features a large storage and work area plus an Operations office.

Projected Completion Timeline

Century Construction plans to turn the SAVE Center over to MP the week of January 23 for us to complete “finish and furnish” work.  Painting, flooring and fixture installation will take place during the last few days of January and the first half of February.  Furnishings, accessories, furniture and a/v equipment will be added during the second half of February.  The Nelson SAVE Center will be dedicated on Saturday, March 18, with a 9-11 a.m. Open House followed by a dedication service at 11, then lunch.

MP has selected Loth Inc. to handle flooring, technology, office furniture and center furnishings funded by a grant from the Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation. Loth graciously agreed to donate high-quality refurbished desks, chairs and cabinets for the upstairs office to help us meet the project budget.

Major grants from the RC Durr Foundation, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and Dayton Foundation Depository combined with donations from about 200 individuals/businesses plus golf outing proceeds in 2015 and 2016 enabled MP to build the Nelson SAVE Center.  Dole Packaged Foods committed to 3-year Presenting Sponsorship of the September Larry Nelson Master Pro Golf Classic to help ensure project financial success. Thanks to all of our donors who shared generously in order to accomplish Larry’s vision of building a center at Master Provisions “where hope begins for thousands”!
